Candidate Experience

Year in Review: Staffing Solutions Enterprises’ WOW Candidate Experience

If you read even just one article in 2019 regarding candidate experience or the candidate journey as some like to call it, the overarching theme was that 2019 was “The Year of the Candidate.”  Shaker Consulting produced its key research findings to publish a report titled just that:  2019 Recruiting Trends:  The Year of the Candidate.

Understanding the hyper-focus on candidate experience in a time when job seekers had plenty of options, SSE maintained a constant motivation to ensure that our experience was set apart from others within our industry. Despite the recent challenges in 2020, it’s no longer enough to have mobile applications, virtual interviews, and electronic onboarding.  Successful Recruiters and talent strategies must incorporate the personal touch – making candidates feel good about their interest in the job, having clear communications about job responsibilities and company culture, and an experience personalized to their own specific needs and wants, even if you have to deliver that experience virtually.

In 2019, we began drafting our SSE Fundamentals of Success. These practices help to guide our everyday interactions with our candidates and clients. You can read more about our Fundamentals by clicking here.

All of our team members understand that these fundamentals, like being authentic, being an active listener, working with a sense of urgency, communicating with specific clarity, and doing the right thing always are the foundations that allow us to create a WOW experience with every interaction – a critical piece of the candidate journey.  We take our commitment to our assignment employees and clients very seriously and have done yearly surveys to ensure that we are not just meeting expectations but that we are improving year over year.

We typically ask 10-15 questions of the Assignment Employees we’ve worked with over the course of the year about their experience working with us.  The questions are defined by the Temporary Worker Survey published by Staffing Industry Analysts, so not only are we comparing our results year over year, but we’re also monitoring how we stack up to the competition.  In a comparison between 2018 – 2019, I was pleased to see that in 2019 our organization improved upon some of the key areas we feel most directly impact the candidate experience including:

  • Responsiveness and Politeness of our staff
  • Trustworthiness and honesty of our staff
  • The productivity of the relationship that the candidate has with their Recruiter
  • Availability and quality of assignments provided
  • Company website experience
  • Interview preparation
  • Communication about open job opportunities
  • Overall satisfaction level

In 2019, 90% of those surveyed reported that they were satisfied or very satisfied with SSE and their assignment.  In addition – a new question for 2019 was added:  On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely are you to recommend SSE to a friend, relative, or colleague?  96% of respondents said that they were likely or very likely.  WOW!  Click here to see the full results of the 2018 to 2019 survey comparison.

How did we stack up against the competition from the Staffing Industry Analysts’ national survey?  On every question asked, SSE survey respondents ranked us at benchmark or higher on EVERY.SINGLE. QUESTION.  We can’t wait to keep this trend going!  Click here to see the full results of our comparison to the SIA survey.
